The Department of Information Science and Engineering was established in the year 2001-02 with an intake of 60 and the intake has been increased to 120 in the year 2005-06. The Department is headed by Dr. Suresh M B who has more than 14 years of teaching experience and specialization of text extraction in image processing.

The Department currently comprises of qualified and experienced faculty members who are committed to give the best. The staff members adopted innovative methods in teaching. The Department also has experienced technical staff that helps the students in technical aspects. The staff will use new teaching aids like LCD and OHP for effective teaching when necessary along with the regular black board teaching method. The Department is having the forum called CISFO (Computer and Information science forum) headed by HOD of ISE Mr Suresh M B in which the forum is conducting activities like Guest lecturers from the experienced academicians and industry experts, Technical seminars, Technical Quiz, aptitude and programming skills test to update the students with the latest trends in industry.

Faculties are attending refresher courses and workshops/training programs to update their skills and knowledge in various technology fronts, and taking the classes of the same technologies to update the technologies to the students. The dept is having collaboration with Infosys campus connect and IBM. We got the reward from Infosys for best implementations of campus connect course transformation to students. IBM conducted 5 days training in the campus and conducted the online test about the RAD tool in which the dept got 98% results.

Keeping in view the vision of the institute, the department of ISE is working hard to achieve excellence in various aspects such as student’s performance, effective teacher-student relationship, imparting quality education to students, motivating the faculty and students towards research and imbibing good human qualities in students.

The Department has adequate laboratories to serve the teaching and research needs of the students and staff. The lab has 130 High-end systems of latest configurations and software tools which are connected to LAN and provides Internet connectivity to all students of the department.

The main library with lending and reference sections has books which cater to the needs of the students and staff of the Department. The department has access to online journals and transactions through IEEE online subscriptions. In addition to the main library dept has its own dept library with books journals and project reports for reference by staff and students of the Department.

Tutorial system is adopted in along with the regular teaching to encourage the students perform better in the tests and main examinations .Several questions are framed on the topic covered in each subject and a copy of this will be given to the students. The students should, solve these questions and come with any doubt to the tutorial classes. These questions will be discussed in detail in the presence of a teacher who is handling the subject. This discussion will help the students excel in the tests and subsequently in the main examinations.

We strongly insist our students to be regular to the classes and maintain the discipline both in and out of the campus. Parents will be kept informed about the attendance, regularity in assignments, tests performance etc. of their wards through progress reports sent from time to time.
