• Established in the year 2002 with an intake of 60 students.
• Presently the intake is 90. There are 90 students in 2nd , 100 in 4th & 60 in 6th and 8th semesters respectively.
• The department has well qualified, experienced and dedicated faculties with 03 professors, 04 Asst. professors, 01 senior lecturer and 15 lecturers.
• The department has well established state of the art laboratories in various areas like Manufacturing Science, Design Engineering, Thermal Engineering etc., catering to various academic requirements of students.
• Various departmental activities like Seminars, Guest lectures, Conferences/Symposiums are conducted under the banner of Mechanical Engineering Association.
• Students of the Department have stood extremely well in the academics. Remarkably the outgoing students of 2009-2010 have secured 100% results.
• Many students have been placed in prestigious organizations like Infosys, Wipro, L&T, TCS Tech Mahindra etc, which is a testimony for the Placement activity of the Department.
• The department is setting up a state of art research and development(R&D) to cater research activities for the research scholars from institutions and industries.

OBJECTIVES

• To produce graduates with a strong foundation in engineering fundamentals enabling them to lead a successful career in industry.
• To enable the students to identify, formulate and solve the engineering problems.
• To encourage and develop the team work, leadership and communication skills to effectively solve the engineering problems.
• To expose the graduates to issues dealing with people in relation to themselves, society and the environment and understand the need for social, professional and ethical responsibility in engineering practice.
